Volunteer Opportunities


On behalf of the Celebrate Westlake Committee, we would like to thank you for your interest in being a volunteer. The following information details the types of volunteer activities that are available and the hours of commitment required. Any amount of time you are able to give helps those in need. Your commitment to giving back to the community with your time and energy is appreciated by many! Anyone may volunteer – there are activities for all age groups. Time commitments vary.


​Food Tent
 Volunteers are asked to assist cutting up fruits for race participants as well as ensure bottled water and juices are available. There are 2 shifts in the food tent (7:00am – 10:30am and 9:30am – 11:00am) 


Timers/Mile Markers/Course Guides
Adult Volunteers are asked to assist with being time and mile markers throughout the course. Course guides will help direct runners through the course and cheer them on.  Volunteers need to report 1 hour prior to the start of each race.    


Registration

Volunteers are needed two separate days.

Friday September 1st  during the hours of 12:00pm to 6:00pm for packet pick up and registration. 

Saturday September 2nd from 6:30am - 9:45am for day packet pick up and registration


Water Stops
There are water stops throughout the race course.  Volunteers pour water and hand cups to the racers as they pass.  Volunteers need to report by at least 7:00am in order to be able to be driven to their designated water stop. 


Finish Line
Volunteers are needed at the finish line to assist with handing out water and cheering on everyone crossing the finish line. 


​Set Up/Clean Up
Set up begins at approximately 6:00am the morning of the race. Volunteers assist staff with organizing tables for the Expo as well as setting up the food tent area, t-shirt tables, and registration area  Clean-up occurs after the awards ceremony and consists of breaking down tables, cleaning trash, removing leftover food and other miscellaneous assignments. Volunteers assisting in this area will be asked to walk throughout the campus and may need to lift/move tables.
